No More Manual Carpool Slips - Submit an HR Ticket

Hello MRH staff!

To conserve paper and streamline things, we are getting rid of the Manual Carpool Logs. Moving forward, if the online alternative commute form isn't working, just submit an HR Ticket via SharePoint.

The same rules will apply as the manual logs. Only submit a ticket if the computer/system is not functioning properly. You should not submit a ticket to log miles if you forgot to fill out the alternate commute form originally.

Please reach out to HR or Buck (Sustainability Coordinator) if you have any questions about the Alternative Commute Program.

Thanks!

HR Team

MRH Alternative Commute Program

Mountain Rose Herbs created an excellent commuting program, paying substantial cash incentives to all employees who carpool with fellow staff members, ride the bus, bicycle, or walk to and/or from work.

We pay staff members $0.25 per mile if they carpool or ride the bus and $0.35 per mile for those who bike or walk. Every year, we award the employee who logs the most miles in each category an additional $250.

Employees have access to a covered and locked bike depot, indoor lockers, showers, and a bicycle repair kit. Owing to these and other amenities we offer, Mountain Rose Herb was deemed a Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists in 2013, a label we currently continue to maintain.

Excess automobile usage is an environmental burden with consequences of great magnitude. Driving cars requires unsustainable and non-renewable resources, while contributing to increasing greenhouse gas emissions and global climate change. We feel that our Alternative Commute Program works in small part to alleviate these problems, and we hope to inspire other companies to do the same.

Carpooling:

Finding a carpool buddy with the same schedule, commuting from the same general location, can be difficult! Please feel free and submit an HR ticket with your current schedule, if you will be driving or if you're looking for a ride, and your general location. Though we cannot promise we can find you a carpool arrangement, HR can try and put folks in contact with one another.

Phone Scam Alert! Announcement From Our CEO/CFO

Attention Please!

We want you to be aware that Shawn, Thomas, and I will NEVER contact you directly on your personal cell phone to ask you to do something.  Any texts to you initiated by us would be company-wide messages via the emergency contact platform.

Our names are public as being executives of the company. Unfortunately, if you post anywhere on social media that you work for the company, bad actors can put those two pieces of information together along with your cell number (which is easily gotten from the “pay for contact info” sites).  They can then send you a text and pretend to be one of us.  This is one of the most pervasive phone scams going on right now.  Because this is being fueled by publicly available information, there’s absolutely nothing we can do to protect you from these scams.  One action you can take to avoid this is to not publish where you work on social media.

Please ignore these texts (and report them as spam as your phone company allows).  You can always reach out to our IT Department for confirmation if you feel unsure.

Cameron Stearns, CEO/CFO

Duck Crossing!

Hello MRH, and Happy Spring!

It’s that time of year when our local duck residents start becoming a bit more active and stray onto Stewart Rd. Please be mindful and slow down when driving through this area, we don’t want any harm coming to the ducks and ducklings.

In addition, this time of year the Canadian geese can get a little aggressive if they are protecting a nest or babies. When walking or biking between 4020 and 3888 be mindful and give the animals due space.

Thanks always!

Mountain Rose Herbs Mercantile Seattle Grand Opening!

Hi everyone, it's been a hot minute since I posted on SharePoint! Nostalgia aside, I'm popping in to share about the Seattle Mercantile that has officially opened up shop!

The grand opening of the Seattle Mercantile was a HUGE success! The line was 3 blocks long and about 1,000 people were in attendance. Many shared their experiences across social media and talked about how happy they were to have us in Seattle.

Here are some photos of the big day:
